Conflict in the board room. From trench warfare to constructive dialogue.

On Wednesday evening 13 November 2024, deminor NXT organised a debate at the Planet Group Arena in Ghent on the theme ‘Conflict in the board room. From trench warfare to constructive dialogue.’

Our colleague Jan Baptist Cooreman (Executive Partner & Manager Ghent Office) had the pleasure of moderating the debate between Annick Van Overstraeten (Global CEO, Le Pain Quotidien), Gaëtan Hannecart (Executive Chairman, Matexi NV) and Bernard Thuysbaert (CEO, deminor NXT). Their extensive practical experience made for an engaging debate on potential conflicts in the board room.

What are the possible causes of internal conflicts? What is the adequate approach to anticipate such conflicts? What are the do’s and dont’s to settle conflicts amicably?

Before the debate, we offered our invitees the opportunity to participate in one of two information sessions as part of our service:

  • Handling conflicts
During this information session, the most common causes of conflict were discussed. What are effective means to minimise the likelihood of conflicts and how best to deal with them are 2 common questions that were addressed.
  • Solutions to conflicts
What solutions are there to get out of a conflict? How can this be financed?

Following the information sessions and debate, the numerous attendees were able to continue exchanging the latest views on this fascinating topic over a ‘calming’ conversation and a ‘conciliatory’ drink.
